GLOSSARY of KEY CONCEPTS & CHARACTERS
Atman - From the Sanskrit, meaning the individual soul, the principle of life or the supreme and universal soul from which all individual souls arise.
Atoms Mirror Atoms - We are constantly cloning ourselves emotionally, physically and spiritually in our actions, thoughts and cars. We are copy machines, duplicating our inner technology in the exterior. This theory expresses a poetic synthesis of some key principles of religion and physics: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction; What you sow, so shall you reap; Like not only attracts, but begets like.
Deltas of Apollo - Deltas of Apollo is an inner landscape, an astral land. The painting also speaks to me in terms of the Earth, its health and our health. It represents the end of the Earth as we know it. The nature of the Earth itself is insisting that we move into our next stage of evolution, a transition that will transcend the present limitations of our biology. The title, Deltas of Apollo, translates as a plea for humankind to bring all inherent possibility to a higher refinement of being, a balance of body, mind and spirit.
The Dragon’s Crown - The location of my home at the top of a dragon-shaped mountain in the coastal wilderness of Monterey County in California.
Editorial Owl - The wise owl of us that can discriminate and edit the superfluous ingredients of life.
The I Change - The I Change, inherent in every one of us, is the invisible chameleon within, a vapor-like essence made up of all that has ever been and will be. When our perceptions change, we see things differently. And when we see things differently, we evolve. The process is an endless one of surfing and navigating the realities of existence. Ultimately, we are all eye in the shifting light of consciousness.
Meme - This term was coined by British biologist Richard Dawkins in 1976 to mean a unit of information that is carried from one person to another. This is a cultural phenomenon transmitted by repetition similar to the way genes replicate biologically.
Macro-Micro Theory - We are truly microcosms of the Macrocosm. As in our immune system, complex and diversified political systems literally run our lives, just as we see in our environment. Every interior function that is needed to keep us alive is also duplicated in our outer world. We have cops, robbers, nurses, judges, tyrants and slaves seething in our cauldrons, replicated within and without. This theory can help to explain the peculiarities of the human species.
Microcosm - Particularly refers to the personal experience of the author.
Nabis - From the Hebrew, meaning “prophet”: an avante-garde group of artists who lived in the late 1800s and early 1900s and were considered to be the forerunners of modernism.
Organic Systems - For more information on computer and communication systems which synthesize the organic and the technological, contact Francis Jeffrey at Elfnet, Inc., PO Box 6844, Malibu, California 90264.
Pankosmion - From the Greek, meaning “place of the whole universe,” the name of my mountaintop home, a Garden of Eden where the chrysalis is ever becoming the butterfly, where the guardians protect the soul’s treasures.
The Sixth Dimension - The realm where death as we know it does not exist, where violence has no pulse, where there is no time and one lives in the eternal, where body, mind and spirit are in a continual process of regeneration. The Garden of Eden restored to its sapience of origin; the quantum math of the complete; the rhapsody of ecstasy; the timeless gift bestown of our birth.
Trimtab - From Harold Willens’ book, The Trimtab Factor, a nautical / aeronautical term referring to the ability to leverage something large or important, or both, with a small but crucial force. In the same way, small but crucial private acts can change the course of history.
Unique Enzymes - Each one of us is a unique enzyme, a specific and predestined agent expressing Nature’s chemistry. As such, each of us is a vital ingredient in the alchemy of life. This concept helps to explain the diversity of the human species. Our preordained genetic code, along with our consciousness, directs the films of our essential natures. If we can peer into our genetic code and comprehend our messenger-type, we will know ourselves better, become wiser and better understand the inner, thus outer dynamics of the world around us.
Voidoid - One who appreciates the value of the empty mind and of being an instrument of the Divine. The Witness of the More The Witness of the More, whose perceptions come from the Overview, is the observer of our Theater of Illusion, our guardian who remains objective, detached. Ideally, each of us has this personal yet impersonal guardian on duty as needed. In my drawings I depict this aspect of the I Change as a creature with pointed ears and a triangular face with a distinctive needle beak. The Inflammable Witness of the More is another character description of the Witness of the More, emphasizing the ability to remain a cool enough observer not to get burned.
